New 2008 applications from Venhill

AMONGST the many new road applications brought out recently by Venhill are brake and control lines for the Ducati 848, 1098, Hypermotard and Monster 695, ZX-6R Ninja, GSX650F, 2008 Hyabusa and B-King.

Off-road applications include lines for the CRF150, 250, 450, KX250F and 450F, KTM 505SX and 530 EXCR and YZF250 and 450.

Spectro Sponsors the BUB Racing Antique Class later this summer in Utah at the infamous Bonneville Salt Flats

Brookfield, CT— Spectro Oils of America sponsors the antique award this August at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Four years ago BUB Racing, promoters of the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials, made history by offering motorcyclists an opportunity to attempt land speed records at their own event, one specifically tailored to the needs of motorcycles. Both the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) sanctioned the event and participated in the officiating of the World and National Records. An unprecedented 8 world records and 22 national records were set at the premier event.

By the close of the 2007 BUB Racing event, growth and records were the common theme. Event growth has come from a significant increase of participants from countries spanning the globe including; France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia plus ever-increasing participation by our countries homegrown talent. The total number of entries last year had risen to 384 entrants, and between them, 53 AMA records took their place in the history of speed. “Spectro Oils is proud to be a sponsor of this epic event. The Flats have become more than a place to set records; the Flats are now the place for industry veterans and new comers to come together. Land Speed Racing is a unique sport, held in a landscape so alien that there are only a handful of places on the planet that are able to provide the conditions needed to attempt these types of records. Bonneville has historically been the proving ground for these machines and through the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials; the motorcycling industry is able to truly shine on its own. More participants are crossing the bridge from other racing disciplines such as drag racing, speedway and flat track to tackle one of the most historical racing surfaces on earth.

What’s more, this unique world of land speed racing is not just limited to those contending for records. This event provides the opportunity for individuals to run their street legal bikes on the salt for that coveted timing slip and to get a little taste of the salt.

BAKER designs premium innovations only to be purchased only once by their customers, so a belt drive will be no different. BAKER R&D found that teeth easily wear down on typical aluminum pulleys. This is due to the strength modern belts have now. They reek havoc on mere aluminum pulley teeth. When the teeth wear down, the diameter shrinks, and belts sag. Saggy belts not only look sloppy, but can cause clearance problems, or unwanted friction issues. In extreme cases, they could fall off.

Steel is also the material of choice for the clutch basket. When a bike is launched hard, the clutch plates aggressively spank the reciprocal flanks on the clutch basket. Deformed aluminum flanks will lead to increased clutch rattle noise, grabby clutch engagement, and hard shifting 1.54 pulley ratio with a 28 tooth pulley on front and a 43 in the rear for a 7% increase in torque to the rear wheel on stock Softails from 1990-2006.

The Synchronous Belt Drive for Softail provided added support to your transmission main shaft too! More so than any available design in the market, the inner clutch hub reaches farther on the mainshaft towards the pulley nut. This reduces flex and stress on the mainshaft.

* Motor plate and edge guard are made of 6061-T6 plate stock. Pulley caps and dog bone are made of 6061-T6 forgings.

* 2.4” wide belt 14mm large tooth belt for extra bite
* Available with or without the outside bearing support (dog bone), however the dog bone configuration is highly recommended for those with Tourette’s Syndrome in the right hand.

* Anti-rattle hardware designed for silent operation when stopped idling with the clutch disengaged.
* Available with 0″ (zero) or 1/2″ offset configurations.
