Rick Fairless
June 30, 2006
Hey,
Just got an email from Rick Fairless. Rick is one of my favorite people in the industry. If you write to him, he writes back. He has built a new motorcycle called the Bettie. It is a cool motorcycle. You can see it on his web site www.strokersdallas.com. Rick will be in Sturgis with his “road joint” some motorcycles, parts, clothing and beer. Those of you who will be there should definitly stop by. This is a talented man, a great ambassador for our industry, and a skilled builder. He wanted to tell us that his show “Texas Hardtails” was a spoof, a comedy. He said a lot of folks thought it was a reality show which it was NOT. Rick is a serious artist who is creative, innovative, a master. We loved his show.
We really like Rick Fairless.

Billy “I’m on fire” Lane’s Death wish
June 29, 2006
Hey,
It seems that Billy (i’m on fire Lane) was at it again. Mr. Lane, it seems, was arrested in North Carolina for driving under the influence. He was on a motorcycle, not in a car. The event occured in the wee hours Sunday morning. Billy was riding on Jake Alexander Boulevard in North Carolina.Highway trooper Mathew Strawbridge filed that Mr. Lane was riding southbound in the northbound Lane. Billy was not wearing a helmet which is illegal in North Carolina. He refused to take a breathalizer test. He was released on $1000 bond and ordered to appear in court in late August. Mr. Lane had attended the Smoke Out in Salisbury North Carolina — home of a store from every fast food joint in America, the Sports writers hall of Fame and my ex-wife and her family. Yes, someone found cat hair in their chinese food. ;-)
I will leave you all to your opinion but in a very short time Mr. Lane, idol to many, was arrested for impairment while on his ride and was aboard a motorcycle he built for Biker BuildOff which blew up in his face. Not bad even for Billy. Anyone familliar with the term death wish?

Roger Bourget
June 29, 2006
Hey,
I wanted to write about Roger Bourget. Roger is a master builder out of Phoenix Arizona. Roger has several patents on the Jack Shaft and his oil in the frame system. He has been around for about 11 years now and is one of my favorite builders.
I first became aware of Roger when I lived in Scottsdale Arizona. He started manufacturing and selling motorcycles about 11 or 12 years ago. I couldn’t afford his art at the time but was impressed with the styling and engineering that went into his customs. His prowess as an engineer cannot be debated witness his patents. He makes a complete line of motorcycles from a trike, to the Blackjack, to the Python, to the auti-mo, to the Fat Daddy, to a bobber (this year), and more. Roger is very successful albeit a little reclusive. Roger has a partner, his wife, who runs the business end of Bourget Bike Works.
I own one of Roger’s motorcycles. He was one of several builders I considered when I bought my motorcycle. I have great admiration for Dave Perowitz, Paul Yaffe, Mike Pugliese, Arlen (when he builds a custom) and several other builders. My preference is a pro-street style and that is why I am naming these people. I love my ride for a number of reasons. The main thing for me was the way it felt. Roger builds a motorcycle that is the most stable I have ever been on. You can sit on my bike, lift up the kick stand and be perfectly stable. It really is amazing. You get a feeling of stability, comfort, and control. This is accomplished by his patents, the way the machine is built. Roger is always on the cutting edge. He has built motorcycles for Kid Rock (who hasn’t?) Dee Snider (twisted sister) and many others. He does about 1000 bikes a year as demand has been strong. My ride has a 133 cu s+s, Jims 6 speed, and most everything else is proprietary. I designed the paint and what I wanted on my motorcycle and Rogers crew built it. I am very satisfied with my choice although, I do get an itch like every week when I see stuff that Dave, Paul, and others are building today. Oh well, I am a lucky guy. I took a chance when I bought my custom. Custom bikes are expensive. I wasn’t sure if I could afford it but, I felt I could squeeze by. I traded my Harley so,that gave me a head start. The only problem when you purchase a custom is finding a good dealership if you need one. There is only one Bourget Dealer around here and they have moved three times in 3 years. They are now located about 6 hours from where I live so, I don’t like that. I have had to look for others when I need help and that is not easy. As I have said, a good dealership, a good mechanic, are as rare as a good doctor, a good friend. If you know one appreciate them. They are worth their weight in gold. Train is going to post some photos with this post so, enjoy.
I want to say that I respect many builders, painters, mechanics, fab people, motorcycle people, etc. I recognize the skill and art that goes into building any great motorcycle. I love the bobber, I love many styles. Those of you who choose whatever have my full respect and admiration. The important thing to me is the quality, the style, the ride, and the people behind the machine. There are a number of people that fit the bill for me.

Celebrity Build.tv

Hey,
I got an email from Ralph, one of the producers of the Celebrity Build that we mentioned just the other night. We told you about the competition between Jon Runyan and Matt Light. Joe is with the Philadelphia Eagles and Matt is with the New England Patriots. We will all get to see masters in various areas of motorcycle creation along with professional athletes building their dream bikes. We think the show will rock.
Ralph mentioned that they have changed their link to www.celebritybuild.tv. We wanted to give you that update. We will keep you posted as we learn more. Ralph’s message is in our comment section. Go view the site. You won’t be disappointed.

Hey,
We have a new member of our family. Grail is up there in Peabody Massachussetts. He has a very cool web site. The link is Knuckle Buster, Inc. . There is a very cool interview with Russell Mitchell done at Laconia. The interview is live. I have not seen one with Russell unstaged before. It is really unique, excellent. Russell talks about himself, Billy, well, go there and see and listen for yourself.
This is exactly the kind of thing we want. Thanks to Grail we get to share something no one else has and it is very cool. He was kind enough to send it to us and now we are sharing the video with all of you. You also get to see and book mark a very interesting web site. Grail mentioned a swap meet he is putting on so all of you who live somewhere near Peabody might want to check him out. If the event is anything like the video it will rock. Train will be adding knuclebuster.com to our links so you can get there easily. This is good, very good.Click on Video to see the Russell Mitchell interview.
Thank You Grail

Trik Daddy/Violator Correction
June 28, 2006
I apologize for my misunderstanding of the bike in question. Here is the picture for the bike “Redemption” by Trik Daddy. I wasn’t able to retrieve a picture of the bike, “Guilty of Being White” from the Violator website. However if you will visit them, you’ll see the two bikes do look very similar. Sorry about the mixup and thanks to Bone for calling me on it.

An addendum, prompted by our most previous posts:
Here is the site for Violator, which shows the bike in question. Please check it out and make your own decisions.

Hey,
I wrote a post yesterday on Zach Ness and Jon Runyan. You really got to go to the website above. There is a 4 minute trailor on the episode and it looks really good. I dare say it could challenge BBO only with pro athletes. It certainly looks like it will blow away Build or Bust. These guys really do the work with some great pros to help. Take a look at the trailer. It’s free.
