TheBeachcruiser.Com Registers 1,052,000 hits for September!
September 30, 2006
Hey,
Wow! Thanks to all our readers,thebeachcruiser.com has registered over 1 million hits for the month of September. The final number will be somewhat higher as that is as of 11:15 am est this morning, Sept 30.
We are very proud and humbled to reach this number. We never imagined anything like the response we have gotten in just over 5 months since birth. We wanted to provide something set to a higher standard. We have worked endlessly to that end. We are committed to making this website the best it can be for all of those who love the world of the motorcycle. We are already working toward that end. We have a number of irons in the fire to make that happen. Train is designing a better website format, we have an affiliation with a kick ass photographer for more photos, we are aligning with several builders to contribute to our content and there will be more. This website seems to have a life of its own and we will nuture it as one would any child. It is a very exciting time for us.
I got my copy of The Art Of The Chopper 11 today. It is an awesome endeavor. I will read it thoroughly over the next few days and share my thoughts with you. We are awaiting our copy of the Teutel book which the Train will review and tell you about. There is more, much more.
We could never be where we are without you, our family. You are supporting us and growing rapidly each month. You inspire our effort with your loyalty and enthusiasm. You are also helping us make a dream come true. We couldn’t find a website that offered the things we wanted; so we started this one. We really didn’t know if anyone, never mind this many people wanted the same thing we wanted. We are overwhelmed that you are out there. This also holds true for the many amazing people who work and make their living in the industry. You have, for the most part been very supportive and enthusiastic. Our respect and admiration for our brothers and sisters has only grown from this experience. We have learned a lot and met some great people. We are all helping each other be the best we can be. That was our dream.

Charleston Bike Builder Creates Fantasies
September 30, 2006
I actually found this piece while we were out in Vegas, but only got around to posting it. These aren’t our regular, “garden variety” customs. But, you have to admit. They sure are intersting.

Ripley motorcycle shop creates rolling fantasies
George Hohmann
Daily Mail business editor
Thursday September 21, 2006
RIPLEY — Dave Anderson, Jeff Paxton and Larry Sayre don’t build motorcycles. They build fantasies that happen to have wheels and handlebars.
Take Anderson’s motorcycle, for example. It’s called “The Red Dragon” because, well, it is built to look like a dragon — from the red-and-black paint job to the horn-back crocodile seat and the pointy chrome accessories.

And then there’s “The Jagermeister.” It’s painted the same color as the famous green herbal liqueur. “That’s Jeff’s bike,” Anderson said. “He likes to drink that stuff.”
Anderson, 53, owns and operates Mountin’ Magic Customs and builds dream machines priced from $15,000 to $40,000.

“I got started racing dirt bikes,” he said. “This started as a hobby about 10 or 11 years ago.” He had a shop with a welding bay on U.S. 33, then decided to build custom bikes with Paxton. Now they have a shop and showroom nestled in a residential area off the Fairplain exit of Interstate 77. They’re looking to move closer to the interstate.
Paxton is involved in fabrication and mechanics and Sayre handles public relations and sales.
A custom bike begins with a bare metal frame. Parts are then shaped and sanded and cut out to the owner’s specifications. For example, Anderson offered a $50 reward to the person at Ravenswood High School who came up with a design he liked for the fuel tank of “The Red Dragon.”
“Needless to say, my wife Pat — an art teacher at Ravenswood High — won,” he said.
Sayre’s pride and joy is a custom soft tail that features a 1998 Harley Davidson engine and a body that was designed in the 1950s. “I was born in 1955 — I like the ‘50s,” he said.
“This bike was wrecked in 2001,” Sayre said. Mountin’ Magic restored the entire bike and replaced the totaled front with a Harley Hydra Glide front end. The baby blue paint job and black saddlebags make the machine look like it just roared out of an Elvis movie.
“The bikes that we build are bikes you can ride,” Anderson said. “A lot of people build bikes that are all looks and no go.”
Every Mountin’ Magic bike is a custom creation.
“They are one of a kind,” he said.
Mountin’ Magic’s steel-and-chrome fantasies have been featured in Easy Rider, Custom Bikes and In the Wind magazines. Mountin’ Magic regularly competes at Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Fla., and has won a lot of bike shows.
“We’ve been beaten by some of the biggest names in the business,” Anderson said. “I’m talking about the guys you see on the Discovery Channel — guys like Hank Young and Don Gray and Billy Lane and Kendall Johnson. We’ve been right up there with them. They’ve beaten us but said, ‘Hey, you’ve done some nice stuff.’”
Anderson said Mountin’ Magic does a lot of classic motorcycle restoration work, along with maintenance and service for all makes. “Most shops don’t want to work on bikes that are 15 years old or older,” he said.
Mountin’ Magic is hooked up with parts makers and suppliers from all over and can get anything a customer wants, he said.
Sayre is now working on a bare frame that will become a 2007 custom bike. He explained that the year used in the name of a bike depends on the motor’s model year.
“We’re taking our time,” he said as he smoothed out some rough spots. “Dave is the type of guy who wants things done now. Jeff has more patience. What really happens is, you end up spending a lot of time waiting on the UPS man.”
Asked how he and the others get away with spending so much time around motorcycles, Sayre said, “I’ve got a great wife who wants me to have a good time — and she loves motorcycles, too. Their wives drive, too.”
As for being around the shop, Sayre said, “This is like a job and recreation all caught up in one. It makes us like brothers.”
On a recent sunny afternoon, Chuck Smith was hanging around, talking bikes. Smith rides a 1979 Harley Electra Glide. Mountin’ Magic built a sidecar for his machine.
“I’m a supporter of quality work and these guys do quality work on old bikes,” he said.

Big Bear Choppers Introduces A New, Revamped 100 Inch Engine, BBC Designed and S&S Engineered
September 29, 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A NEW REVAMPED 100-INCH ENGINE BBC DESIGNED AND S&S ENGINEERED

Kevin Alsop of Big Bear Choppers phoned in a series of component specifications to Michael Read, S&S engineer, for a newly revamped S&S Super Sidewinder engine exclusive and proprietary to BBC. The result is a quieter, smoother running engine.
By using a square configuration of 4.00 inches of stroke with 4.00 inches of bore and utilizing proprietary compression ratios and cam timing as well as reciprocating weights, this internally reformed engine runs incredibly smooth while meeting all the strict EPA requirements. Additionally, proprietary cam timing and compression ratio helps this engine to run cooler and the type of rockers help cut down running noise. This engine produces around 110 lbs torque with 95 HP, so power is not sacrificed.
The Super Sidewinder engine is marketed by BBC with the name of S&S-BBC 100 SMOOTH and is premiered in the new factory built ready to ride Big Bear Choppers production bikes available on selected motorcycle dealership’s floors. Big Bear Choppers will also use this engine standard in their famous line of unassembled bikes and custom builds. The new engine is exclusive to BBC for all of 2006.
I wanted an engine that is the best of all worlds—reliability, power and comfort,” said Kevin Alsop, founder and president of Big Bear Choppers. “And when I say reliability, I mean for the bike as well as the engine. While looking like any other S&S engine outside, the inside is changed up and the essence is its low vibration. Vibration is the worst thing for the integrity of a motorcycle and its components. Plus, we all know high vibration causes pre-mature rider fatigue. Eliminate vibration and you eliminate problems,” concluded Alsop.
“It was refreshing to bring to market a purpose built engine that not only has the performance S&S is know for, but does it so with the rider comfort in mind,” said S&S Sales Manager Michael Read. “This combination in our square-design engine offers power deliver that feels almost like a rubber-mount in a solid mount frame.”
Working with BBC is always fun for us,” said S&S president, Brett Smith. ”Kevin and his team are always looking to do something different from everyone else and it always seems to be just the right thing at the right time. I don’t think this 4×4 engine project will be any different. S&S was glad to be involved and provide the engineering needed to make his request a reality.”

Get Your Guilty Customs Tattoo at Biketoberfest!!
September 29, 2006
Guilty Tattoo’s and Biketoberfest.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. Guilty Customs is getting into the “skin” of their fans, literally! With the company’s unique and stylish “Celtic” logo as part of their marketing efforts, fans are taking the logo on the shoulder, arm or lower back, or anywhere else they wish.
Guilty Customs, along with a well known local tattoo studio, Tattudio of Longwood, Florida have a unique proposition for those attending Biketoberfest this October19-22 in Daytona. Stop by their booth on Saturday 21st and get a free certificate for a Guilty Celtic tattoo done by Tattudio. As many in the biking community know (as well as those who have tattoos) finding a good tattoo design is hard to come by. With the combination of a great design (4 rotating G’s cleverly disguised within a Celtic pattern) and a good tattoo artist, Guilty Customs has again demonstrated that this newcomer in the chopper community knows how to give its customers exactly what they want. Guilty’s booth is across from Harley-Davidson on Beach Street in the park. Guilty is so sure their new bikes are going to get under your skin, that if you don’t leave with a one of their choppers, you’ll at least want something as unique as this Guilty Celtic tattoo!
“I have to admit, this wasn’t my idea” say Cj Hanlon, owner of Guilty Customs. “We’ve had people just ask us straight out, could they use our logo for a tattoo. After you have people asking you that, you start paying attention. Now, we’ve got guys in the shop planning their next tattoo around our logo. You can’t ask for anything better than that for brand recognition I guess” says Hanlon.
“We’re all about great tattoo’s and customer service” say Jennifer Cravens, owner of Tattudio. “When Cj approached us with this idea, and we saw their logo, we knew right away that we wanted to participate in something unique like this during Biketoberfest 06”.
While most of the attendees at Biketobefest 06’ are there to check out motorcycles and merchandise, consume large amounts of food and beer, and ride hours and hours with new and old friends, they now have the opportunity to do something unique to remember Biketoberfest 06, like getting a free tattoo. This offer is for one day only, Saturday October 21st from 3:00pm to 10:00pm at the Tattudio mobile trailer. Free vouchers can be found at the Guilty Customs trailer located on Beach Street across from the Harley-Davidson shop in Daytona.
Tattudio, Inc (www.tattudio.com) is a Longwood area tattoo studio known for their well trained and creative tattoo artist and dedication to customer satisfaction. They also are the only mobile studio in central Florida. Tattudio is located north of Iron Horse on US-1 in Ormond beach (if facing Iron Horse they are in the first vendor row on right) during Biketoberfest and get one awesome tattoo, free.
Guilty Customs, LLC (www.guiltycustoms.com) is a motorcycle manufacturer that is quickly establishing itself in the custom chopper industry by bringing to the discerning consumer, innovative and “rider friendly” custom motorcycles at an affordable price. Guilty is one of the few companies with a line exclusively for female riders.
