    He killed a guy.
Let’s all get together and give Billy a hug.
    Yeesh!
Billy Lane should be ashamed and hiding his face not out signing autographs at a bike show.

    Hi Owen,
Welcome to the beachcruiser.A lot of people feel the way you do.We’ll just have to see what happens. There is no doubt that Gerald Morelock is the victim in all of this.
    Thank you for your comment

Ya he did a horrible thing. But he can’t crawl under a rock. Had I of made such a stupid mistake I would still have to go to work. I once lived a pretty fast life and it was by Gods grace that nothing horrible happened. It is as Dave Nickels said here on the Jewels interview ” Some times you just don’t know who you are until a life changer happens.” Or close to that. Billy made a horrible mistake and he will pay for it. And then he will move on. Just as we all would. My heart goes out to the Morelock family. Justice will be done.

    Thank You Knuck,
A very emotional topic with no answers. We have snow and ice here. It’s going to be hairy getting to the V-Twin.First snow in years. It figures.

Owen, I thought the same thing when Billy showed up to autograph at Biketoberfest. I was a little shocked that he did that and it kinda made me angry, but then I realized this is what he does. This is how he promotes his business and obviously people still love him and want to see him. He can’t go hide in a cave somewhere, he has to go on with his life, hopefully in a different direction.

Thanks Zee. That’s a very objective, reasoned response. Wish there were more like it.

    Crow’s back
    Pretty much ditto Zee’s post
Perceived present will do little to
erase the past image in court or otherwise.
Any updates on the Chrysler Daimler side of
things would be appreciated if possible.

    Thanks “Cold” Crow

    Hey Crow,
I thought you had headed south till spring.Good to have you back. The civil suit goes to trial on Wednesday.Billy doesn’t go on criminal chsrges until March.I am not sure why a civil trial would begin before a criminal case. This whole mess and the maneuvering confuse me.Even O.J. faced criminal charges first. Why woulde the defense or the state want to tip their hand?.I also wonder how the civil trial will not have some affect on the Jury for the criminal trial.I find it disturbing.

    Yea Beach
That seemingly does not make any sense.
I’ll ask one of my lawyer buddies about
that one. Only thing I can think of is
if Lane is not named in the civil suit
and the are after Daimler funds. Even
still all the states records thru discovery
and subpoena would be brought into civil?
    Who Knows??
Later, I’m Flying South in two weeks//Crow

The civil case is going ahead because Morelock’s family filed court papers to get it going down a speedy pathdue to Gerry Morelock’s mother being elderly. Seems there is some kind of provision for the elderly to get to court. Lane has a battery of lawyers as does Dodge Corp. Look it has been close to six months since the accident. Shame Billy got behind the wheel od the Dodge owned truck, drunk, speeding and passing in a no passing zone and did not see the headlights on the bike in the other lane. It has been reported that all three cars Lane passed saw the dead bikers headlight. The State does not have to give up everything they have. You know FHP made darned sure they did everything right. I bet that these car manufactures are very careful who they loan promotional automobiles too and keep up on driving records and if drivers license are valid. It is a sad mess. Lane was pulled over in June for being under the influence, refused the BAC test, so he knew hew was over the limit. Then less than 3 months later behind the wheel driving under the influence and refused the BAC test. You reported that FHP practically took Lane’s blood by force. Okay. Now did Lane and Tyran get married? You report the news so lets hear it!!! Good job guys. Oh, the State is not tipping their hand. Rules in a criminal and civil case are very different animal. There is not such a burden of proof required in a civil suit. I looked on the internet and Lane is facing a maximum of 15 years if convicted on the criminal charges. You know he has to wish he obeyed the law and did not drive. Maybe that guy on the little bike would not be dead.

    Hi Bob,
Welcome to the beachcruiser.Your comments are appreciated and well thought out. It is a mess. I still don’t understand why a civil trial would precede a criminal one. The defense would surely have to tip it’s hand. The Morelock attorneys would have to divulge evidence that the state would surely want kept quiet until the criminal trial. I also wonder how a fair and impartial jury could be found after so much becomes public. It makes no sense to me.I also wonder why the criminal case is taking so long to go to trial. Billy Lane’s origional attorney filed for a speedy trial by jury which is their right.I am NOT an attorney but I always thought that a speedy trial meant within 6 months. That is done to protect a defendant from sitting in jail for years awaiting trial.
Billy is a smart guy! I am sure he and his attorney’s are trying to keep him free for as long as possible and will pull every rabbit out of a hat they can to get him out of this. That is his right and their jobs. We read and hear the same things you do.The evidence against Billy seems overwhelming.I underline SEEMS. As a lawyer said on another site. The American justice system is set up so that it is of less concern how many guilty people go free than one innocent man is found guilty.
Train stumbled upon something on Billy’s girlfriends
my space site. I am not exactly sure what she found but it had something to do with the last name Lane. She’s asleep now but, she will elaborate tomorrow. In the meantime I don’t know anything about that.I can say that this was conjecture on Trains part with reason. We have no absolute knowledge that Billy is married to anyone.
Thanks again man. We hope to see you often.
