The Smoke Out East

Hey,

  In a couple of weeks we get the Smoke Out in Salisbury N.C. This event is brought to us by The Horse. I understand it is a good event and a good time. Me and Train would attend except for a personal history for me and the fair city of Salisbury.

  I was married to a woman who was born and bred in this fair city. I spent a lot of time in Salisbury and, I do mean time. I went there for holidays and visits because The Family was there. Now let me tell you, when I say family I mean lots of people.There was Eddie and Minnie and Ellen and Matt and Henry and Lamar and Dick and Betty and Freddie and Myrtle and Bobbi and Mark and Betty 2 and Mary and Gary and more than a dozen kids. Oh, and then there were the guests.I would say there were at least 25 each time.

  Now Salisbury has the Broadcasters Hall Of Fame, every fast food restaurant known to man, one movie theatre and a lot of Churches. I liked going up there at first cause I come from a small family and this one was anything but small. You see, there are always lots of folks who will travel for a free meal and you don’t want to get on the bad side of a family that big.

  My marriage was bad man! I mean talk about the “bloom falling off the rose”. I had three step-kids who I raised, housed, fed, and educated. I thought it would be cool but it wasn’t.It was a fantasy that became a nightmare.I’ve lost track of all of these people but, it would be a good bet that most of them are still in Salisbury doing absolutely nothing.It was like that then and I can’t imagine why it would have changed.Salisbury was my version of hell so, I don’t go back.Too bad cause the Smoke Out is supposed to be a good time.

  I am ten years removed from the scene. It’s interesting that the smoke out is there cause in all the years I went there, I never saw a motorcycle or a biker.Ten years is awhile so maybe things have changed.I don’t know.

  That’s it folks. A little bit of history and an explanation of why we don’t go to the smoke out.If you happen to be in the neighborhood let us know if the event is any good.Last year Billy Lane got arrested for D.U.I. there ( not convicted) which doesn’t surprise me a bit. Long live Salisbury North Carolina.
