Settlement Reached Morelock VS Lane

Hey,

  A settlement has been reached between Daimler Chrysler, Billy Lane and the family of Gerald Morelock. The settlement is secret as is the case in most of these cases. I am actually relieved that this faze is over. We have been saying for months that we couldn’t imagine a criminal trial taking place AFTER a civil suit. As it turns out we were right. When you think about it it is very interesting. You CAN’T say it is an admission of guilt by Mr. Lane and Chrysler.You CAN say that Mr. Lane and Chrysler either thought they would lose in court or that this is a cheaper way to go than the legal process.We will never know for sure but that is almost always the case and we can’t imagine why it would be different this time. According to Byron Morelock the settlement was reached after many hours of contensious discussion. We do know that this was not the first time they sat down and we do know the settlement will not bring back Gerald Morelock. We know according to Byron that the family has at least ended one part of this ordeal. He went on to say in Florida Today how much he appreciates the support that he and his family have received.We will have no further comment on the right or wrong but if it brings some relief to the Morelock’s we are glad.

  The road is now clear for the “Big One”. Billy will stand trial on criminal charges supposedly this fall. That could change as it has several times. We just hope that a decision is reached that is fair. Everyone has a different opinion of what fair is and I am quite sure that not everyone will accept closure. We think that for Billy and the Morelock’s closure is important. We still feel terrible about all of this and we wish it never happened. No decision will make us feel good. There are no evil people involved.We hold that no one is served at the destruction of another.
