Perewitz Fall Foliage Run — First Night
September 22, 2007
The first night of the Perewitz’s 15th Annual Fall Fling went off extremely well. Over two hundred Hamsters, their friends and family gathered at Dave and Susan’s house on Cape Cod for food, fun and fellowship. I think it’s fair to say that everyone had a terrific time. Even the little terrier, Zippy, was having a ball.
The food was fantastic and plentiful. We loved Susan’s delicious “clam chowda” the best. On the grill there were hamburgers, chicken, steak tips and more. Boston baked beans, clams, potato salad, and nachos were to be had as well. If you left hungry, it was your own fault. Of course, plenty of beer and soft drinks were flowing as well.
The band was great and played some classic rock with a little newer stuff thrown in. Their sound lent a festive air to the occasion and helped to get everybody in a party mood.
The weather itself was quite warm for the year, but pleasant. Not too warm, not too cool. I guess somebody would say, “Goldilocks weather”.
As we walked through the front yard, we could see a fantastic display of bikes from all over the region and even the country. It’s too bad that it was too dark to get any pics. We hope to get some for you today or tomorrow.
One of the most important aspects of the event was the silent auction, all proceeds of which would be donated to a local charity. There were items from several well known builders and industry leaders on display. We will not name them here to preserve their anonymity. Suffice it to say you could bid on anything from jewelry to parts to a scale model of an Arlen Ness bike to a bubble gum machine – and several other things. It was a terrific show of support by fellow Hamsters and others in the industry.
Dave, Susan, Jody and Cory were the perfect hosts. They opened their home to their friends and gave so freely of their hospitality. It’s tough to pull off a party with that many people in attendance and the Perewitzes did a stand up job. We look forward to seeing them again tonight and letting you in on the results of the fishing expedition. (No, Beach and I did not attend.)
Until then, we hope you’re enjoying your weekend. We will have some pics to post later as well. We will show you the hotel we’re staying in, some local scenery, and some shots from the party last night.
