Victory Vision Motorcycle

December 16, 2007

Hey,

It was pouring down rain today for once. It will take weeks of heavy rain to fix the water problems we have here. The forecast is for sun again(rats)

I went down to the closest Polaris dealer to check out the new Victory Vision. I couldn’t take it for a spin but I got a pretty good idea of what the bike is all about. It’s fairly heavy at over 800 pds but it didn’t handle heavy. It feels solid and although the styling is very new school it is attractive. The motorcycle has a system that makes it almost impossible to drop and harm the bike. It can tip over but the motorcycle itself doesn’t hit the road. There is a system which holds the bike off the ground. It is also is cleverly designed so that if you should tip over, it is not too dificult to get upright. All of this is important to a lot of touring riders and bagger lovers. There are a lot of folks who are a little older and victory has addressed that. There are only three colors right now and I would prefer more choices. I like to make my ride personal and unique. I am sure with a little custom paint that issue could be addressed. The question is how much?

This motorcycle is set up for comfort. It has storage especially if you choose the touring version over the street version. I was a little surprised that the engine only gives out 92 hp.The top end on this bike is 110 mph so, unless the engine is worked on you won’t be setting any speed records. If 100 mph is fast enough than this motorcycle is a possibility. The company says it’s plenty powerful for cruising and passing. I’ll find out when I test drive the machine. I have heard it handles very well, corners very well, and runs very smooth. I will know for sure soon.

My first test of the motorcycle has wetted my appetite to take it out on the road. I will be doing that soon. It is a new bike so there is no record about how mechanically sound this machine is. That is very important to people who would purchase this type of motorcycle. There also aren’t very many dealers around here so, maintenace is something that concerns me. I can do a little wrenching but ultimately I need a kick ass mechanic to keep things right. There is a one year factory warranty.I’m going to check with my wrench(Rocky) to see if he can handle this machine.

Yes, The Beachcruiser is checking out Baggers. I am becoming more interested in comfort for both myself and the Train.I am not committed to anything as I love the custom I have.I am at present “just looking” as they say.

The Vision runs from $18,500 to $22,000 for a fully loaded touring model.
