S&S PARTICPATES IN THE LEGEND OF THE MOTORCYCLE

LA CROSSE, WI (May 12, 2008) S&S® Cycle participated in the third annual Legend of the Motorcycle show in Half Moon Bay, CA. The Legend of the Motorcycle is a world-class event that covers over a century of motorcycling history and the invitational concours showcases and judges approximately 300 of the finest pre-1978 motorcycles from around the world. The annual event also includes special displays of contemporary custom racing and concept motorcycles. The show was highlighted by MV Agusta unveiling a new limited edition machine for the street called the F4 RR 312 1078.
S&S proudly displayed the new X-Wedge™ (www.x-wedge.com) engine as well as a custom bike that utilized the X-Wedge engine. S&S also sponsored the 2008 Industry Award, given to a deserving motorcycle/owner that is chosen by key industry players, like Michael Lock of Ducati, Matt Chambers of Confederate and Claudio Castiglioni of MV Agusta.

In attendance at the Saturday, May 3rd event were approximately 6,000 participants and attendees from five continents, admiring nearly 300 of some of the best motorcycles in the world and raising thousands of dollars for charity. The featured manufacturers were MV Agusta and Norton. Giacomo Agostini, the greatest Grand Prix racer of all time, came from Italy with his family to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented by World Champion Phil Read who came over from England for the occasion. Icons of custom bike building Jesse James, Paul Cox and Billy Lane unveiled new creations to the applauding and cheering throngs of enthusiasts and press. From racers to builders, executives to owners, enthusiasts to the curious, Legend of the Motorcycle brought together a unique combination of people for a weekend world event celebrating over a century of the two-wheeled machine.

S&S Cycle has been a leading manufacturer of Proven Performance v-twin motorcycle components and engines for nearly 50 years. George Smith and Stanley Stankos founded the company in 1958 in Blue Island, Illinois. Shortly after the founding of S&S, George, and his wife Marjorie (whose maiden name was also Smith), bought out Stanley Stankos and Smith & Stankos became Smith & Smith (S&S). In 1969, S&S moved from Blue Island to Viola, Wisconsin and expanded to La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2004.
