July 2, 2008
Our ever vigilant Scout over at Baker noticed a few inaccuracies in the Penz post we did a few days ago. Here is the corrected version he sent. Thanks for keeping us on our toes Scout! You are the greatest.

Now available from Penz Custombikes: The BAKER Right Side Drive Right-Side-Drive 6-Speed (RSD6) gearbox for stock and tuned Twin Cam B and Screaming Eagle engines and models! With this move, Penz Custombikes reacts to the increasing use of stock and upgraded Twin Cam engines by customizers all over Europe. With the Twin Cam in its fuel-injected version being one of the most popular Euro-3 homologated V-Twin engines for one-off customs already, BAKER has responded to the call of the market, adapting the well established and reliable RSD-gearbox in 6-speed configuration for Twin Cams.
Being somewhat a „pioneer“ for European RSD-drives since 2002, Peter Penzenstadler knows the advantages of the RSD-gearbox from long-term experience: The weight is distributed from the primary side into a much better balanced position to the middle of the bike. The offset of gearbox – impossible at Twin Cams anyway, due to the solid connection between engine and gearcase – and primary is a thing from the past, the rear wheel, no matter how wide, is centered dead bang in the middle axis of the bike, exactly aligned with the front wheel. Riding characteristics not just remain close to stock, sometimes they improve dramatically.
Another positive side-effect: stock parts such as brake calipers, brackets, etc. can be retained keeping the costs at bay. The difference in costs between a RSD gearbox and extensive offset-modifications, often irreversible, is less than one may think, especially when it comes to the working hours that can add up fast.
But no matter if new build custom bike or stock modified: Right-Side-Drive gearboxes have become increasingly popular for wide-end conversions. The transmission ratio of the BAKER RSD6, optional to be used with stock, aftermarket or the new Baker primary drives, is especially designed to the needs of the Twin Cam 96 engines. The 6th gear, with a ratio of 0,89:1 is acting like an „Overdrive“ to improve fuel economy. All gear drives and internals are „made in USA“, manufactured from hi-quality steel which offers reliability and the highest standards. BAKER underlines this with a 5 years/50.000 miles warranty.
