BAKER Drivetrain Announces “BAKER Drivetrain Burnout Drags!”

BAKER, a devilish name known for unapologetically innovating top-end premium drivetrain components in the American Big Twin industry, wants to bring riotous FIRE & FURY back into motorcycles! 

With the help of the Legendary Buffalo Chip, Spectro Oils, and Avon Tyres; BAKER is hosting a completely invented competition that sums up to be an untamed burnout drag race tournament! Burnouts are already wrathful. But, put a pair of wild, proud, and fearless custom bike builders together in a competitive race to be the first to get to 5th gear and you’ll watch the chaos prevail! Gather a total of eight celebrity builders for a tournament-style competition gunning toward a final victory, and the seething spirit of competition will bring out the best in what we love about motorcycling! Add the theatrics of 20ft. high flamethrower towers, loud/fast music, a boisterous MC screaming the play-by-play action, and swag getting tossed everywhere, and audience participation by guessing the winner for a prize; riotous FIRE & FURY will take over! Let’s keep motorcycling fun, spontaneous, and mischievously inventive!

The Main Amphitheatre (Wolfman Jack Memorial Stage) at the Legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD.
The Contest Structure:

Burnout drag races: It’s simple counting. The 1st contestant to shift to 5th gear while burning out the rear wheel wins a BAKER 6th. They will also be featured in a high-profile BAKER Drivetrain advertisement.

Format: One-on-one heats in a tournament-style competition of 8 celebrity custom motorcycle builders.

Audience Participation: From 7pm-10pm, prior to the competition, onlookers can submit his or her name into one of eight ballot boxes next to the contestants’ custom bike to get a chance to win a new BAKER clutch. Each ballot box represents one of the eight custom bikes in the contest. When the BAKER Drivetrain Burnout Drags winner is determined, he will draw a name from his ballot box to decide the audience drawing winner.

We the promoters of the BAKER Burnout Drags ask the question: What determines a winning burnout drag bike? Is it the bike weight, tire size, tire tread pattern, tire age, horsepower, transmission/pulley/sprocket gearing, transmission shift pattern, rider talent, or luck? I guess we’ll find out. Give us your best guess.

Fury Insurance: To instigate feeling of intense reckless abandon between the contestants, and to beckon the most competitive spirit that can be summoned, BAKER will offer to replace any drivetrain component that is destroyed during the drag races. Courtesy of Avon Tyres, tire gift certificates will also be given to the contestants so they need not worry about paying for a replacement tire. There’s no looking back for these guys now!

Scorekeeping: To keep score, 2 judges for each custom bike will count the shifts and display the score in real time to keep the onlookers informed, engaged, entertained, and excited.
  

The Contest Experience:

Attention from the large crowd gathered from the evening’s first headliner performance, Kierks Bentley, in the Wolfman Jack Memorial Stage (the main amphitheatre) will be drawn behind them by this stage’s host immediately after the show. Our races begin with an 8 bike burnout that will bring the noise, smoke and attention to the BAKER Drivetrain Burnout Drags. Then, these bikes will parade to the contest’s burnout pit below the BAKER Burnout Box to compete.
People waiting for the next headliner, Stained can come early to get a good spot and witness the BAKER Burnout Drags mayhem!
A high-energy MC will call the play-by-play action to work the crowd and call the start of the heat.
A Hawaiian Tropic girl will drop a handkerchief, hot rod drag race style, to initiate the start of a heat.
Loud and fast music will supplement the heats to keep the energy level at its highest.
Swag will be tossed throughout the affair to thank the onlookers for watching and to keep the spirits at its peak.
25ft. flamethrower torches will explode fire sky-high, singe our retinas, warm our faces, and unleash our primal instincts.
