Big Dog Motorcycles used the annual V-Twin Expo in Cincinnati to provide dealers with a ‘sneak peek’ of the first of the new models for its proposed 2009 model range. Big Dog’s Wolf is due for an official release in September of 2008. However, at the time of going to print the final specification has not yet been clarified.
What is known about the bike is that the frame will feature a single downtube fit with a radical swingarm design. The tire sizes will be 130/60R-23 front and 220/50R-20 rear. The narrower rear tire follows a trend which company founder and CEO, Sheldon Coleman, outlined at the company’s recent dealer presentation in California, and which has been set by this year’s Mutt, with its 250-section tire deviating from the company’s more normal fitment of a 300.
Motive power for the Wolf will be provided by an S&S 121ci X-Wedge, with electronic fuel injection, mated to a six-speed BDM Balance-Drive transmission.
The company says an extensive chrome package will be offered as standard and there will also be an optional highly-styled saddlebag.

Love the look but it needs the big tire to finish it off.
Ya maybe. I think it looks pretty darn good as is. I’d like to take an X out and feel how it preformes.
looks good but it needs a big back tire
Very nice but the back tire doesn’t scream WOLF!
the reason for the 220 rear tire is so the soon to be available optional molded custom hardbags will fit. With a tire wider than the 220 the option to make this awesome bike a custom bagger would not be available. It will also corner much better with the 220. the lean molded stance of this Wolf is better expressed with the 220 as well. This all makes the Wolf a very versital and great new addition to the BDM line-up.
I do not work for or am I in any associated with BDM, but I do own one and love it better than any bike I’ve ever owned in over 40 years of riding motorcycles. Nothing like a Dog!!!!!
Yeah, they got the name wrong.
That was a great answer ed.good info thanks But I still like the big tire look on it maybe they will make one with this look and the big tire and you are right there is nothing like a dog.
Love it just the way it sits! I saw it up close and personal at the Street Vibrations Show in Reno, NV last weekend. It is by far, the best production bike I have EVER seen!
I had the opportunity to take one out this weekend. It handles great. looks great and at first i thought the same thing. It needed a 300 on the back. The more that I look at it I think it follows the whole flow of the bike much better with the smaller tire. I have an 07 Mastiff and it handles much like it but having a little longer wheelbase it would take a little getting use to it for the hills of East Tennessee. With different pipes and breather it will be twice the bike of any other for half the price. Didn’t even have to sell the wife on it….she is wanting it for herself!!!!
The look of the Fat tire is cool, but I got to ride one this bke is just short of 9.5 ft and it will out handle anything in the Bigdog line up. It is so fun to ride! Smooth, Fast, and will whip around a corner like nobodys bussiness. Love it
this bike is only good for weekend cruising on cool days any bike made like this , ride this in city traffic for a few hrs it probally will overheat , a good everyday cruising
bike that has power speed torch with out overheating is the bad ass VTX 1800
i even rode this bike in 0 degree weather it started right up using a military battery
I got one. I love it!! It’s bad ass..
