Brenda Fox Has a New Website

May 6, 2008

3

Many of you know Brenda as a journalist, motorcycle spokesperson and enthusiast. Those of us who are lucky enough to be close to her know her as a bubbly, passionate, “what you see is what you get” human being. It’s a cliche to say that someone is beautiful inside and out, but it goes further with Brenda. She has such an energy and verve for life you can actually feel it when you are around her.

We want to respect Brenda’s privacy as much as possible. But, some of you are aware that she has been dealing with some medical issues lately and is very much in need of support, financial and emotional. Brenda says that when she thought she had no family around to support her in her time of need, she got online and found a whole new family full of love, encouragement, compassion and support.

Some friends of Brenda’s have started a web site that is still in its early stages. The address is

I am woman, hear me roar down the open road

Motorcycling isn’t just for men — and Vicki Gray is out to prove it today with International Female Ride Day.

Since the invention of the powered two-wheeler, women have shown an interest in this unique form of transportation.

Take, for example, Augusta and Adeline Van Buren. In 1916, the sisters rode a 1.0-L Indian Power Plus motorcycles from New York to Los Angeles. They were the first women to cross the U.S. on motorcycles.

And that’s the kind of pluck ‘cyclist Gray appreciates.

Gray, 49, is the webmaster of www.motoress.com, an Internet site dedicated to women and motorcycles.

She is also the instigator of International Female Ride Day. Gray — motorcycle racer, instructor and riding coach — hopes all women motorcyclists and scooterists ride today.

The purpose of the event is to encourage women motorcyclists to “Just Ride!” as the campaign slogan suggests. There is no set destination and there is no charity attached.

According to the website, the campaign was created to highlight the number of women who ride and build female rider awareness.

Worldwide participation in the event is expected in countries such as Australia, Canada, Britain and the U.S. This is the second Female Ride Day; Gray initially launched the ride in 2007 as National Female Ride Day. She notes, however, that Canada’s participation was a little lacklustre last year.

“I want women to celebrate the day and make it their own,” Gray says from her Toronto office. “I’ve been hearing from women all over the world, as well as Canada.

And it looks like Canadian participation will be better this year.”

Her Motoress.com site averages 1,000 unique visitors a day, and can generate between 20,000 to 35,000 hits a day.

According to Jo-Anne Farquhar, manager of communications for the Motorcycle and Moped Industry Council of Canada, the number of women showing an interest in riding is on the rise.

More About The Perewitz Weekend

April 9, 2008

Many thanks to Jody for providing us with these notes and pics!

Dave recently went to Texas for the Nascar race in Dallas. He got a little side tracked on Saturday. He flew to Austin from Dallas for the day to attend a car show hosted by Jesse James. The show was packed with wicked cool cars according to Dave. He even got some pictures of a few. The event was busy with guests and the weather was even better to top it off. Dave also got to see a long time friend, tattoo artist Jack Rudy. I am sure there was good conversation between Jesse, Dave, and Jack. Dave said that is was nice to hang out with Jesse and catch up on times.

Dave was surrounded by celebrities all weekend. Friday night he watched the Big and Rich concert from the side of the stage with Nascar driver Ryan Newman. Then he hung out at the coaches with all the Nascar Officials, Drivers, and Crew Cheifs. He watched the race on Sunday from the suites with the mayor of Ft. Worth, Ruth Buzzy from Laugh-in, and the coach for the Green Bay Packers!

After a busy weekend Dave is back in action here at the shop. Our latest project is in full swing, a Suzuki Hayabusa.

Check out our blog for some more pictures! Thanks!
